Covid-19 Autumn booster jabs now given to more than 77,500 people in Barnsley

There has been a positive response to the Covid-19 booster programme in Barnsley with over 77,500 people coming forward to receive their jab.

This significant milestone marks the hard work of the teams involved in providing the vaccination service.

As well as protecting you and the people around you, the COVID-19 booster also helps the NHS by reducing the number of people that are likely to get seriously ill and needing to go to hospital.

Commenting on the relatively high levels of uptake across our area, Andrea Parkin, BHF's Head of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals, commented:

"The latest data follows the pattern we predicted, and a difficult winter is expected.

"I urge everyone to protect themselves against coronavirus and flu this winter. Our teams are very welcoming and helpful."

If you know anyone who is eligible who has not yet received their jab – its not too late – they can they can still receive a jab by visiting on BHF Lundwood Surgery on Friday 16 December and Friday 6 January between 9am-12pm.

Boosters are available to everyone who is aged 50 and over, and everyone aged 12 and over in at-risk groups and front-line health and care staff. To check your eligibility, click here
